Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 11, 2026

MetiVis is operated by Koen Schira ("MetiVis," "we," "us," or "our"), based in San Diego, California. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain information when you visit https://metivis.com, join the MetiVis private-beta list, communicate with us, or use an invite-only MetiVis beta that links to this Policy (collectively, the "Services").

MetiVis is currently in private beta. The public website does not make the unfinished learning experience generally available.

1. Who the Services are for

The Services are intended for people 17 years of age or older. They are not intended for anyone under 17.

If you are under 17, do not use the Services, join the private-beta list, or submit personal information to us. If we learn that we collected personal information from someone under 17 in violation of this rule, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

If you are 17 but have not reached the age of legal majority where you live, the Terms of Use require you to have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Services.

2. Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with MetiVis.

A. Information you provide directly

For the public prelaunch and private-beta waitlist, we may collect:

  • your email address;
  • your confirmation that you are at least 17;
  • your request to receive communications about private-beta access;
  • whether you separately choose to receive occasional MetiVis product updates;
  • an optional description of what you would want MetiVis to help you learn;
  • information you include when you contact support, make a privacy request, or otherwise communicate with us;
  • feedback you choose to provide.

If and when you are invited into a learning beta, we may also collect information needed to provide that beta, including:

  • account and authentication information;
  • learning goals or preferences you choose to provide;
  • homework, questions, documents, text, links, images, video/source references, or other learning materials you choose to submit;
  • your answers, attempts, explanations, interactions, and other activity within the learning experience;
  • product feedback and bug reports.

Do not submit highly sensitive information that MetiVis does not need to provide the requested learning feature, such as Social Security numbers, government-identification numbers, financial-account credentials, medical records, or classified/confidential information belonging to another person or organization.

B. Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, our systems and service providers may process technical information such as:

  • IP address and network/request information;
  • browser and device type;
  • page paths, referring domain, and timestamps;
  • security, anti-abuse, and diagnostic information;
  • campaign parameters such as UTM source, medium, campaign, content, or term when present in a link.

For the public prelaunch site, our own marketing analytics are intentionally limited. We do not put email addresses, free-text learning responses, raw IP addresses, or persistent browser fingerprints into the marketing analytics dataset.

Hosting, network, security, and anti-abuse providers may process technical information needed to deliver and protect their services.

C. Information from other sources

We may receive information from:

  • service providers that help us operate the Services, such as delivery/bounce/complaint status from an email provider;
  • a person or organization that invites you to participate in a beta or research session;
  • publicly available or third-party sources when needed to investigate security, abuse, fraud, or legal issues.

We do not buy or scrape marketing email lists for the MetiVis private-beta list.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the Services;
  • manage the private-beta waitlist and send requested beta-access communications;
  • send occasional product updates when you separately opt in to that topic;
  • understand which public pages and referral sources lead to beta interest;
  • provide, personalize, and evaluate invite-only learning features;
  • understand what a learner appears to know, where an explanation or attempt broke down, and what learning step may be useful next;
  • respond to support, privacy, and legal requests;
  • detect spam, fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our policies;
  • debug and improve the reliability, usability, and learning quality of MetiVis;
  • conduct optional product research when you agree to participate;
  • create aggregate or deidentified statistics that do not reasonably identify an individual;
  • comply with law and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, MetiVis, and others.

Private-beta learning interactions may be reviewed by authorized MetiVis personnel when reasonably necessary to evaluate learning quality, investigate problems, provide support, or improve the product. We do not publish private learner content as a testimonial or marketing example without separate permission.

4. How we disclose information

We may disclose information in the following circumstances.

Service providers

We use vendors and contractors to operate the Services. Depending on the feature, these may include providers for:

  • website hosting, networking, and content delivery;
  • databases, storage, and server-side functions;
  • email delivery and subscription management;
  • security, anti-spam, and bot prevention;
  • error diagnosis and infrastructure monitoring;
  • AI/model or content-processing services used to provide requested private-beta learning features.

These providers may process information on our behalf or as otherwise described in their applicable terms and privacy notices. We configure and contract with providers with the goal of limiting their use of MetiVis data to providing and securing the relevant services. We do not authorize service providers to use private learner content for their independent advertising purposes.

Legal, safety, and rights protection

We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

  • comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
  • protect the rights, property, security, or safety of MetiVis, our users, or others;
  • investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our agreements;
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Business transactions

If MetiVis is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate protections.

At your direction

We may disclose information when you ask or direct us to do so, or when you give separate permission.

5. No sale or cross-context behavioral advertising

We do not sell personal information.

The current prelaunch website does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not include third-party advertising pixels for targeted advertising.

If those practices materially change, we will update this Policy and implement any notices, opt-outs, consent mechanisms, or preference-signal handling required by applicable law before enabling the new practice.

6. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies

The current prelaunch site uses only technologies reasonably needed to operate, secure, remember limited site state, measure basic first-party site performance, and preserve referral/campaign attribution.

Security, hosting, and anti-abuse providers may use cookies, local storage, or similar technical mechanisms as part of their services. The current site does not use advertising cookies for cross-site behavioral advertising.

See the Cookie and Tracking Notice linked from the site for the current implementation.

7. Email and communications

When you join the private-beta list, you ask us to send communications needed to manage that request, including beta-access or invitation messages. You may separately choose to receive occasional broader MetiVis product updates.

You can unsubscribe from promotional/private-beta update emails at any time using the unsubscribe mechanism in those messages. We may retain the minimum information needed to honor an unsubscribe or suppression request.

If you later create an active MetiVis account, service-critical messages about that account or the requested service may be handled separately from optional marketing subscriptions.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including security, legal, and operational needs.

For the current prelaunch:

  • an active waitlist record may be retained while the beta invitation program is active and for up to 24 months after your last meaningful interaction with the waitlist or related beta communications;
  • low-data public-site analytics are intended to use a shorter retention period, generally 13 months or less;
  • email suppression information may be retained as needed to honor your request not to receive future marketing;
  • support, security, legal, and fraud records may be retained for a period appropriate to the issue and applicable requirements.

If you are invited into a learning beta, account and learner-content retention may depend on the feature and beta state. We will delete or deidentify information when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to backups, legal obligations, security needs, fraud prevention, and suppression records.

9. Your choices and privacy requests

You may ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we maintain about you;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete eligible personal information;
  • stop sending optional marketing/beta-update email;
  • answer a question about our privacy practices.

Use https://metivis.com/privacy-request/ or contact support@metivis.com.

We may need to verify that you control the email address associated with the request before acting. We will not ask for government identification when a less intrusive verification method is sufficient.

These request options are offered as part of our privacy program. If an applicable law grants you additional rights, we will honor those rights to the extent the law applies to us.

10. California privacy disclosures

MetiVis is based in California and this Policy is intended to satisfy the disclosure requirements applicable to the current Services, including California's online privacy-policy requirements.

Categories collected and categories of recipients

The categories of personally identifiable information we may collect are described in Section 2. The categories of third parties/service providers with whom information may be disclosed are described in Section 4.

Review and correction process

You may use the process in Section 9 to request access to or correction of personal information we maintain about you.

Material changes

If we make a material change to this Policy, we will post the updated Policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate to the nature of the change and our relationship with you.

Do Not Track and preference signals

Browsers may offer a "Do Not Track" setting, but there is not one universally adopted technical standard for how websites must respond to that signal. The current MetiVis prelaunch site does not use cross-site behavioral advertising, and we do not currently change site behavior in response to a DNT signal.

We do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If a legally recognized opt-out preference signal becomes applicable to a future MetiVis practice, we will implement the handling required by applicable law.

Other parties' collection across sites

Infrastructure, hosting, security, and anti-abuse providers may receive technical information when their technology is used to deliver or protect the Services. Their handling of information may also be governed by their own privacy notices. MetiVis does not currently place third-party advertising trackers on the prelaunch site for behavioral advertising across unrelated services.

This Policy does not state that MetiVis is necessarily subject to every provision of the California Consumer Privacy Act. Applicability depends on statutory criteria and the facts of the business. We will reassess applicable obligations as MetiVis grows and as its data practices change.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, destruction, loss, alteration, or disclosure. No system can guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for protecting any credentials issued to you for an invite-only beta and for telling us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

12. United States service and international visitors

The current private beta is intended for the United States. MetiVis and its service providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate.

We are not currently representing the prelaunch/private-beta program as a generally available service designed for residents of every jurisdiction. If geographic availability expands, we will review the privacy program for the relevant laws before intentionally launching there.

13. Third-party sites and services

The Services may link to third-party websites or content. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Policy.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as MetiVis changes. The new version will be posted with an updated effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when appropriate, such as through the Services or by email to users for whom we have a relevant active relationship.
